Sometimes you want nothing but simple text, you don’t care about the formatting –and this is where this free and portable application comes in. With a simple click on the PureText icon in the system tray, you can remove the formatting from the text copied to the clipboard. Then you can go ahead and paste the text in whatever application you want.

As mentioned above, PureText is a portable application – which means you do not have to install the application in order to start using it. All you have to do is download a very small archive, extract the executable inside, and then run said executable. If you want to take PureText with you, just put that executable on a USB stick or another portable storage device.

While the application is running, you will see a PureText icon in the system tray. Left click this icon and it will convert clipboard contents to pure text; right click the icon and you will be presented with a context menu that, among other things, allows you to access the application’s Options menu. From this menu you can choose a hotkey for converting clipboard contents to pure text, choose if you want the converted text to be pasted into the currently selected window, pick if you want the application to play a sound, and select if you want PureText to automatically run at startup.

Using PureText is as simple as clicking a mouse button or pressing a hotkey. After you copy a piece of text and click the PureText system tray icon, the clipboard contents will be converted to pure text. The same thing will happen if you use the default hotkey or whatever other key you set for stripping the copied text of its formatting.

PureText quickly converts clipboard contents to pure text.

Pros

You don’t have to install PureText. Convert clipboard contents to pure text by clicking the system tray icon or by using a hotkey. PureText is free.

Cons

None that I could think of.
